Proactivity is what makes the difference.

It’s a new year and we are all hoping it goes better than the previous one. Well, hope isn’t enough, we have to put in the work. Not to make hoping sound useless, but hope or faith without actions is useless. Sometimes we have dreams and plans for our lives but don’t know where to begin. It happens to a lot of us but one rule I work with is every day I do something that contributes to my goals. That isn’t enough, here is more that I’m adding to my rules;

Discipline

Growing up we were punished if we failed to do something and now we are adults, punishments don’t work. Not even that, there is no one to punish us. We are accountable for our own actions. We deal with consequences now. For everything you commit to doing, discipline will determine if it will succeed or when it does. Discipline keeps you in check, ensure you are committed to doing what you committed to doing.

You develop your discipline muscles by doing everything you wanted to do without getting discouraged. Thinking of challenges as just bumps and finding ways to overcome them and keep doing what you intended to do in the first place. Every time you find a reason to procrastinate, find ten reasons why you shouldn’t.

Another thing is to set a timer while doing things. Focus on that, nothing else matters apart from what you are doing at that particular time. Distractions will always be there, just don’t give in. every time you do that, you develop your discipline muscles a little stronger.

Just do it

Another thing I have committed to is just doing it. If I want to do something and I’m doubting myself, I will go ahead and do it. Ill fail but I’ll do it better next time. I’m over the idea of procrastinating and self-sabotaging, which I do a lot, especially when it comes to applying for jobs. When I get to that requirement that I don’t have, that’s a wrap for me. Well, in 2021, that not going to happen. I’ll apply for a job that requires 10 years’ experience and there is nothing they can do to me except maybe say no. that’s the courage I’m running with this year, so should you.

Self-investment

Disappear and invest in you. Re-emerge better and a more interesting person to be around. Not that it matters but finally you’ll get to appoint of going for what you want and connecting with people who help you nourish and be better. Let go of toxicity, self-sabotaging behaviors. Give yourself 6 months to passionately invest in yourself. You’ll never regret this and if you do, please reach out so we can argue about it.

Living with intention

I’ve talked about this before, but I’ll do it again here in summary. Be intentional with a lot of things that you do. It gives meaning and a lot of changes when you start living with intention. Don’t just live or do things, figure out why you are doing them. Why you have certain thoughts. Figure things out and start being intentional.

Finances and investment

Finally, I’m adding a category for finances and investments. It’s something I want to do because I’m committed to being more in control of my finances this year and investing. Most of us struggle with this, well I know I do. And in my journey to master personal finance and investment, I’m taking you with me. let’s make mistakes together but most importantly start taking those trips on our way to financial freedom.

Wishing you an amazing year full of growth and happiness.
